PAUL COSTA "In This Life"Track by Track
1. In This Life
Paul Costa / Rod McCormack
· This is the song that I wanted the whole
album to be about "Life from where I see it"
· The many choices and goals we have and being aware
that it's ok to have dreams and to be different.
· Working towards a better future in life and love
2. No Turning Back
Paul Costa / Rod McCormack
· Someone who enjoyed the single life and
never been able to fully commit.
· When the right one came it was like something took
over and destiny was planned out and set
· This latest relationship has been life changing because
of finding a soul mate
3. Half the Man
Paul Costa / Rod McCormack
· This guy was going through life feeling
a little empty
· The girl who his just asked to marry makes him feel
complete
· He's happy she's said yes and looks to the future
4. How'd I Fall For That
Paul Costa / Rod McCormack
· This song was inspired by Suzy - during
many celebrated victories and happy times she'd jokingly turn
and say with a serious face "You were nothing before me"
(very funny when she does it)
· That then led to this tongue and cheek song about a
guy who was doing very well for himself , or so he thought
· He'd seen other guys in the situation of being constantly
run down and criticized by there partners and swore it would
never happen to him.
· When he falls in love himself he can't believe his
in the same situation - sounds like a conspiracy.
5. Survivor 1932
Paul Costa / Rod McCormack / Noel Costa
· 1932 an unforgettable year in Australian
history because of so many characters, events and hero's
· The peak of the Great Depression, the opening of the
Sydney Harbor Bridge, unveiling of the "Dog on the Tucker
box", Sir Donald Bradman and Bodyline, Pharlap, etc etc
· Grandpa's talking to kids and painting a picture with
his memories about what life was like back then - maybe even
getting caught up and drifting as they unfold
· Even though things were very tough, these hard times
pulled people together and helped shape a nation.
6. Hello Smile
Paul Costa / Matt Scullion
· To me this Power Ballad is about that
point in time when this person is saying to themselves, goodbye
to my broken heart and hello to the good times
· No longer have the dark cloud hanging over my head,
just sunshine from now on
7. Growing On Me
Paul Costa / Matt Scullion
· It's a brand new relationship and this guy is that
happy he's on a full time high
· He's doing things he normally doesn't do and can't
get her out of his head
· "Settle big fella before you blow a fuse",
is what his friends are thinking
8. Love Like That
Paul Costa / Matt Scullion
· A little envious about seeing other
couples in a loving relationship this guy is hoping to have
that as well some day
· Someone he can grow old with and know he has forever
9. Man Over board
Paul Costa / Gina Jeffreys / Ron Sinclair
· She's gone and this guys got the blues
something bad
· He's given up on her, cause he knows it too late no
matter what he does
· The situation has finally hit him and his trying not
to sink too deep
10. Real World
Paul Costa / Rod McCormack
· I think we all know someone that's been
through this situation
· He's fallen head over heels for a girl he hardly knows
and it's ended very badly and very quickly.
· He's left devastated, but lucky his friends are there
to pick up the pieces
11. Why Me
Paul Costa / Rod McCormack
· This guy's in a good place a feels blessed
to have his partner in his life.
· He's also looks at other relationships around which
have come and gone and asks himself "how did I get so lucky"
12. Band Of Brothers
Paul Costa / Rod McCormack
· A look into a great part of my life when
I used to travel and perform shows every weekend with my 3 brothers.
· Often juggling farm work, school and personalities
· Everyone's moved on now with there own lives and careers
· The rare family function when we're all together always
ends up in a big jam session and brings up ideas of a reunion
concert or even a tour.
13. One Big Circle
Paul Costa / Rod McCormack / Sara Storer
· Inspired by catching up with Sara Storer
for a coffee on the Central Coast and chatting about what was
going on in the town where we both grew up.
· The next natural step was "let's write a song
together" so when we did a few days later we decided to
write about the meeting and the conversations we had during
that coffee shop get together days before.
· Also the fact that we all get caught up in our own
lives and sometimes leave it too long to catch up with people
we care about.
14. Big Time In a Small Town
Paul Costa / Rod McCormack
· A fun song that makes me want to
dance and party
· The feeling that just because we live in a small town
doesn't mean we can't have a big time when we kick up our heels
· The sense of a fun community spirit that goes with
so many smaller towns
· "We don't even need an excuse, lets party hard"
